Madison Zinefest

A few weeks ago was Madison Zinefest!
I didn't have any new comics but did have a new collaboration with Tristan Jimerson, called 5 Unsent Love Letters. He wrote five fictional letters and I did a small illustration for each one.

I also debuted my first set of temporary tattoos!! Above is me wearing one! This was super fun and they turned out pretty well. They came in a bunch of designs (some old illustrations, some wild girls, a Teddy Roosevelt drawing by Evan Palmer) along with some new drawings as well.

Everyday Sketches

Just three little sketches. One is of me at work, wearing my very sexy uniform, including slip-proof shoes and a dirty apron.

No real update

I'll be outta town for Kathleen's wedding (my older sister!) in Seattle for a few weeks!

There's been a bunch of photos of her (and my other sister Elyse and I) uploaded online and I thought I'd share the real inspiration of the wild girls, the princesses, and all those little girls I doodle. I mean seriously, look at that photo above. I feel pretty privileged to have grown up where my sisters and I were rewarded for being ourselves, creative, and different, and-in my humble opinion-we have all grown up into distinct individuals.

Look at em now!

Tiny baby update

First, I've been interviewed in Blanket Magazine for their Cosmos Issue! It's a pretty cool issue with a fun concept (and I quote from their website): "One very special feature this issue is our artist project ‘Astrology Psychology’ which includes a fascinating study on whether our star signs influence our creative process. We challenged 12 artists – each with a different star sign – to create a piece of art and to keep track of their creative process along the way. We then compared their findings with a short synopsis of the characteristics of their star sign to see the results – and trust me – some of the results were jaw dropping!!"

The issue is only two dollars(!) and if you're a subscriber to the magazine you get 12 printable artists cards for free (including my piece done for this issue). They're also available for a separate purchase if you want.

Second, Good Minnesotan has a project up on Kickstarter.com!!

The project looks amazinnnggg and I'm lucky to have a story in it (the mama onion comic if anyone's seen it)! Good Minnesotan is a fantastic local comic anthology-for those that don't know- and do a wonderful job of showing off local cartoonists. Raighne and Megan Hogan (some of the faces behind GM) are also super sweet and hosted my solo show in their studio last month!

Anyways, take a peek and if you have 5 bucks sitting around, I recommend donating some money to them.

Ps. If you haven't checked out the Good To Know Zine, you totally should:

Collabs and more

First, I'm in the new issue of Good To Know Zine! It's full of sweet advice and stories from other artists. I recommend buying it. There's also a preview where you can read my story (it's with the illustration I did of people's shoes). It tell an embarrassing story of my happy ignorance when it came (comes?) to art. The PDF is also 2.50....you have that laying around. I know it.
.
In other news, I love collaborations! In celebration of Feast, debuting at SprinCon, I'm posting some old collaborative drawings I did with Mr. Evan Palmer. As most know, Feast was written by me and drawn by Evan. It's about a group of wild girls standing up to a manbeast. It's gotten pretty good feedback so far. Evan hasn't scanned any pages yet so if you didn't see it at SpringCon you'll have to wait. If anyone WANTS a copy, it's three bucks a pop.

Anyways. These sketches were done over a year ago, Evan penciling one part and me the other, then each of us inking the others pencils.

This piggy one was for a children's story I wrote that Evan was going to illustrate. Sadly, it has yet to be born into existence.

And now some of my own art. A drawing that didn't make the cut for my show:

This drawing WAS in my show, but it was transfered onto a painted canvas.

Photo dump

Lotsa photos from my solo show.

Extra special thanks to Heather Buscho, Alison Stump, 2D Cloud Studios, Erik Schuster Christina Beard, and Evan Palmer for pretty much doing everything that needed to be done for Spring Con.

Oh, and thanks for everyone who stopped by.

SPRING CON!

To the man who bought the princess book for his kids and said he makes up stories all the time, feel free to email me! I love collaborations and I'd love to help make something special for your kids!
