SLUTEVER

Been super busy trying to catch up on a project that I'm behind on so I haven't uploaded anything to this old blog in awhile. I took a small break last night and drew some doodles just to relax. First is me in my leather. Next is my friend in her leather. And here is a sketch of my new favorite band, Slutever. Listen to their music. It's got a lot of sound in it. My favorite song is I Can Dream The Rest Away. I'd like to be in their girl gang if they had one.

Portland!

First here's a little sketch I did. Minneapolis summer! It's making me stupid happy. Let's not talk about it. I'll have a table at the Stumptown Comic Fest this weekend with Evan Palmer! It should be an awesome convention and will undoubtably be a great trip. Portland never lets me down. I'll post some photos of the convention once I get back. I'd like to show more stuff that I've been working on but it's all going to be in my upcoming book so you'll just have to trust that I've been drawing comics. And I have been! I promise!

Failed hourly comics

Seems like every year, on hourly comic day, I am at my poorest and have the worst moods. You can read last years hourlies here. As you can see, I am still wearing the same coat. I didn't finish this years comics, motivation and mood made me a big baby but I figured you can see my attempts anyway. I threw in a little drawing about a trip to the prestigious Country Bar.

PS. my money situation is so much better right now and my mood along with it! Whew!

Moonbaby

Here is a big update featuring the first thirteen pages from my newest comic, Moonbaby. It's kinda weird. It's drawn on vellum, no inking, just pencils. I really like working this way, it's more immediate and flexible than working with ink. ALSO, before you read the comic, read this awesome review for The Offering over at Thirteen Minutes! Then maybe buy it! Enjoy the beginning of Moonbaby! .

Finest moments

I've been drawing a lot of drunk self portraits in my sketchbook while on vacation. Here's some that I colored while watching my dad cook lasagna.

Skinny-dipping

Short comicthing I drew in my sketchbook. I was thinking about summer and the first time I went skinny-dipping. Everything felt weird and new because I didn't have my glasses on therefore everything I saw was super blurry. Clicking on the images will make it clearer and easier to read, with or without glasses.

Test pages

Here are two test pages for my next comic that I'm working on. I just wanted to play around with the materials and see if it's the way I want to work. I think I'm going to keep figuring it out but figured I'd post these anyway.

Review and Sketches!

First up, Optical Sloth did a review of my newest comic, The Offering!! You can read it here! Totally valid point about how I forgot to add contact information in the book. It's something that I've forgotten in basically every comic I've put out.

Just some sketches that I doodled while scanning so I didn't just keep staring at a computer screen. I've updated my Etsy shop and now it has most of my comics up for sale as well as my posters! Perhaps the above review of The Offering will prompt you to buy a copy.

But you're just a baby!

I bought some Yupo paper-SO EXPENSIVE but I'm kind of in love with it. I drew this super quick comic to play around and experiment with how the paper works. It almost makes me want to do a color comic...almost. Maybe.

Amazon!

So I recently remembered that I had a book for sale up on Amazon. I don't know why I forgot about it, it was a lot of work to get it up on there, but now I remember so it's all good. It's The Princess Book, which some will remember from my first hand-sewn version and how I said I'll never print it again because it was a giant pain in the ass. But after talking with someone else who printed through Amazon's Create Space I decided to give it a try. I'm pretty happy with the result and have been ordering copies and selling them at conventions but it just occured to me that anyone can buy it, from anywhere, off Amazon.

Now when you search my name on Amazon, two books come up! So Much Sky is a collection of stories about the author, Karen Weir-Jimerson's, life on a farm that I did some illustrations for. It's a fun book and I recommend it! And now The Princess Book, which you can now own for a mere fifteen dollars! While the first edition has a special place in my heart, this version can withstand multiple readings and looks super nice and has a spine! Pretty snazzy!!
